Beartrap

Quality:
Levels: 13.5+
Location:  Bear channel (between the Bear Islands)
Getting There:  Paddle into the Beartrap channel from river left, or attain/carry from river right
Eddy service:  Poor.  You have to carry back up.
Skill Level:  Advanced. The hole can be shallow and sticky at lower levels. At higher levels, the foampile is powerful, but forgiving. Be aware of the sticky hole just downstream.
Description:  Beartrap is the last spot to come up at Holtwood as the water rises, and is one of the best.  It forms first as a hole, similar to Storm Hole, and becomes a wave with a foampile at higher levels.  There's a good bit of confusion as to which hole is actually "Beartrap."  Some people mistake Mama Bear for Beartrap, and I've also hear the sticky hole just down of the play feature referred to as Beartrap (which makes sense).  For all intents and purposes, when people refer to playing Beartrap, they mean the main  upper hole in the channel.
