Yesterday (and Today)
Quality:

Levels:
7ft+ When Storm Hole washes out,
Yesterday starts to come in
Location: River
Right in
the Storm Channel, about halfway between the upper and lower breaks, on
the right side of the island used to walk up for Storm
hole
Getting There: Ferry
across the
Main Channel from the put-in or Powerline
to the upper break.
Attain or carry the break, and paddle downstream to the hole, heading
right of the island. Alternatively, ferry over from Powerline, looking
for a break in the island in the trees between the normal breaks.
This puts into the Center Channel right at the island you walk up.
Eddy service: Fair, but workable (see description)
Skill Level:
Advanced. The hole is pretty friendly, but swim here and
you're in the trees
Description: "Yesterday" is the name of the hole, and "Today" is the
small green wave just downstream (with eddy access). The hole is good for any sort of hole moves, and also has a strong, green shoulder on surfer's left for wave moves- so you can do most anything here. The hole is on a slight angle to the current, so it tends to walk you toward surfer's right. There are two ways to work the eddy, walk up the island on river left, or pull up the eddies on river right. The
walk up is short but kind of a pain, especially at higher water when
launching back in gets tough. There are three eddies on river right, separated by small rock shelves. There are ropes set up to help you pull yourself up over the rocks. The pull from the bottom eddy to the middle eddy is tough, but it's pretty easy to catch the middle eddy at low flows. The rope system still needs some tweaking, but it works. Be aware of the trees and other vegetation in the eddies, and make sure you have a knife handy, as you're dealing with ropes in moving water!
