A day in the life of the Nile Special and a trip to town
|
More from the Uganda. Life here is a strange combination of total
simple relaxation (eat, sleep, kayak, repeat) and utter frustration
(ie, going to the bank).

Thoughts from an island in the Nile
|
I'm living on a island in the Nile in Uganda, with no running water, no
outside electricity, but intermittent internet access. between timing
when the internet is up and keeping batteries charged via solar and
generators, this update has been on my computer for a while, but I'm
getting it up now. It's my thoughts on my experiences in Uganda so far-
I've learned a lot about human nature and myself in the past week.

Update from Africa
|
Life on the Nile is good so far. Culture shock and Jetlag are starting to wear off, and it's all starting to sink in.

Off to Africa
|
I hate the cold. Winter is my least favorite season- the rivers freeze, the days are short, and I seem to be prepetually cold and grumpy. Every fall I say that I'm going to buy I plane ticket to somewhere warm for the winter, and I never do. This year I finally pulled the trigger. I was thinking maybe New Zealand or Costa Rica, but when friends started talking about Africa, I could pass it up. I'm leaving this afternoon to spend a month on the White Nile in Uganda. Big warm water surfing, YEAH. I should be able to find internet access from time to time, and will do my best to post some updates for you.

Flashback
|
It's been cold, and I've been busy finishing up my thesis, so there hasn't been much exciting in the land of CR lately, so I figured I'd dig into the archives for those of you who need a dose of Nooz
This is probably the first picture of me in a kayak- a Pyranha Stuntbat, circa 1996. The location is Double Drop on Muddy Creek here in PA, and it's probably my 3rd or 4th time in a kayak.
Fast forward 9 years: Once again in a red Pyranha boat, this time a 4-Twenty on Inner City Strife on the Black in NY, doing a move called a Flashback. Funny how things come full circle |
